We are beginning our second week of instruction. I have loved meeting all of the new Kindergarteners. They are so little! When I began teaching Elementary Spanish my youngest son was in Kindergarten. I can hardly believe he used to be that little. He seems so much older now that he is in second grade.
This year at Columbia I am going to teach exploratory to 5th and 6th graders. I am excited for that to begin Monday, August 24th. I am looking forward to all of the fun things we're going to do together. Since the class will be for 90 minutes there will be plenty of time to do games, to do cultural activities and crafts, and to use technology. Many times we are very limited with what we can do with our younger students because of the time constraint of only 30 minutes per week. I can't wait to really dive into the "Mission" and get started.
Because I am only at Columbia for one and days this year it wasn't possible for me to teach all of the classes. I miss my third grade students! I know though that I am leaving them in good hands with Mrs. Powell. Luckily I get to keep all of my classes at Heritage.
I cannot believe how the students have grown and matured over the summer. They really amazed me at what they remembered from last year. Every class loved showing off what they remembered which was fine with me because I loved watching them show off (or as some people say "show out").
We have a lot of new students this year! We are reviewing a lot and I know they will quickly catch up.
I hope everyone is having a great start to the year. If you have any questions or concerns please email me at [email protected]
